Digital Routes for Drapetsona
Updated: 7 days ago
COMM’ON continues its collaboration with the Municipality of Keratsini-Drapetsona through Fertile Ground, supporting the development of new ways to document, interpret and share the history and cultural heritage of the area.

The new digital platform, Digital Routes of History and Culture in Drapetsona and Keratsini, is now online at www.dimotikesdiadromes.gr. It invites visitors to explore the history of the city through monuments, neighborhoods, historical evidence, photographs and personal / family mementos of local residences.
The first phase focuses on Drapetsona, with routes highlighting places such as the Rempetis Bridge, Vourla, the Battle of Paranga, the refugee housing settlements and the former Fertilizer Factory. Each location brings together historical documentation and archival material with stories and memories that reveal the area's social, cultural and industrial history.

Voices and memories are an essential part of the experience.
The platform includes short audio documentaries, with residents narrating and exploring local histories, including the Battle of Paranga, the refugee housing settlements, Vourla and rebetiko music. It also connects with Labor Park, a six-episode audio documentary series exploring the history of the former Fertilizer Factory and the lives of the people who worked and lived there.
The platform is the first phase of an ongoing process. Its content on Drapetsona will continue to grow, while the digital tour of Keratsini is planned for 2027.
The project is part of the wider development of the Municipality's Digital Historical Archive, which COMM’ON and the Municipality have jointly developed to document and preserve the area's social, cultural and industrial heritage. Residents are also invited to contribute photographs, family archives, historical documents and oral histories to help enrich this evolving resource.

The project is implemented by the Municipality of Keratsini-Drapetsona in collaboration with KDVM II Keratsini-Drapetsona and COMM’ON, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. Part of the project is funded by the Ministry of Culture.
