SMALL COMMUNITIES
Small Communities is a long-term umbrella program by COMM’ON that supports, empowers, and connects small and/or remote communities in rural Greece.
It is an ongoing, locally-driven empowerment process that highlights and builds upon the knowledge, creativity, and resilience found in small-scale, peripheral communities across the country.
The program collaborates with small municipalities and civil society groups to co-design and implement sustainable, community-based initiatives bringing forward innovative ideas, locally grounded solutions, and meaningful activities that promote sustainable development.
Each new Small Communities project begins with a deep understanding of the specific needs, capacities, and characteristics of each community. These needs are seen as the space between “what is” and “what could be”and they guide every stage of our work.
At the heart of the program is a commitment to forming strong, long-term relationships with local stakeholders, ensuring that each project is rooted in the community and able to evolve over time.
Small Communities focuses on Municipalities classified as “small” under the 3852/2010 Cleisthenes law and on local groups, initiatives, and active civil society actors in the periphery of Greece
