COMM'ON and StipoGR developed a joined session during the 6th Conference for Cultural and Creative Industries in Patra, Greece on the 6th & 7th December 2024.
COMM'ON in collaboration with Stipo GR designed the session: "Planning long-term impacti in the city via art and culture. Cross-sectoral collaborations and creative participatory processes, from planning to implementing and reporting."
During the session COMM'ON presented the programme "Fertile Ground" (2021-today, in collaboration with the Municipality of Keratsini - Drapetsona) while Stipo GR presented the project "AsfartArt" (2023, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kesariani). Both presentations focused on the need and the impact of cross sectoral collaborations for the (re)design of public space.
The presentations were followed by an open discussion with the participation of COMM'ON (Marou Chatzopoulou), Stipo GR (Vivian Doumpa, Dimitra Zouni), the Municipality of Keratsini - Drapetsona (vice-mayor Vasillis Tsingeris) and the Municipality of Kesariani (former vice-mayor Manos Kitsellis).
The focus of the open discussion was:
(a) the benifits and barriers of cross-cectoral collaborations
(b) the available methodological models and results that they bring.
Can we ensure civic participation in the design on public spaces by using art and culture as tools?
Are there available methodologies that could support a municipality to develop a (creative) municipal paricipatory process?
Could long-term impact occur participatoryly within public spaces (such as neighborhoods or parks)?
What is the long-term impact of such paricipatory processes? What are the risks or obstacles that may arise for the local Municipality?
What is and what should be the contribution of public administration in such processes?
